Teachers...Have You Ever Thought About Once A Week Online Tutoring for Your Students?

I know the thought of giving up an hour a week in the evening to tutor is a great sacrifice, but I found it as a great bonding experience for those students that chose to give up an hour of their time to practice and review their skills.  I used the WIMBA platform that my Board of Education provided.  Each of my lessons started with a PRETEST and ended with a POSTTEST.  I provided the lesson and students using their headsets could respond or ask questions.  We did online activities together for practice.  Everything you need is in this PowerPoint, which can also be used as one of your daily lessons.  Some of the lessons do take more than one hour of tutoring or more than one day for the daily lesson.  It just depends on what you chose to do with your students.  Each lessons contains many choices of activities to suit your teaching style.  I even had a student living on a sailboat being home schooled to request permission to join my students in the tutoring sessions.  She was a great addition to my students.

Any student that participated in my tutoring session turned in their pre and post test and received 5 points that could be attached to any assignment and that included their semester exam.

Author's Purpose PowerPoint Lesson

This PowerPoint lesson is divided into two parts. PART 1 starts with a PRETEST, then teaching section, 2 online practice activities, as well as, a 'we do' activity. There is no POSTTEST for PART 1. PART 2 begins with a PRETEST, then a 'we do' activity followed by some online practice activities. This part does have a POSTTEST. All PRETESTS and POSTTEST have answer keys in the PowerPoint.

This lesson is separated into two parts to make it easier to complete the lesson without feeling rushed. So, two class periods and could be 3 class periods are needed to utilize this lesson successfully.

Becoming A Better Test Taker PowerPoint Teaching Lesson

This PowerPoint presentation begins with a teacher lesson that shares some test-taking strategies, such as POE, Reviewing and Marking, Rereading, Support Answers with Evidence, and the SCORER strategy. This is followed by some Testing Tips and a QUIA online practice activity prepared by students.

This PowerPoint begins with a PRETEST followed by ANSWER KEY. The teacher lesson is next followed by 2 'together' activities. Then you have 5 Online practice activities. Should your students need more practice, you will find 21 additional links to online practice activities. This PowerPoint presentation ends with a POSTTEST and ANSWER KEY.

This lesson can be completed in one day if you choose not to use most of the online activities. All of the online activities can be done together for the interaction and engagement of the activity. It is your choice on how you use this lesson for remediation and the length of time you need to be sure your students have the cause and effect concept mastered.
